Threads Of Us

Threads of Us is a storytelling campaign that shares real stories and lived experiences from our neighbors, told in their own words. Each story reveals the unique journeys, challenges, and triumphs that shape who we are.
Merrick Korach is a long-time South Side resident. His life could have gone two very different ways — and he chose the better path.
As a teen, he learned to walk away from fights, knowing exactly where each choice would lead. Guided by his mother’s strength and his faith, he found purpose in ministry and neighborhood work.
Today, back in Evansville, Merrick advocates for disinvested neighborhoods and works to be the mentor he once needed — building a legacy for his daughters and his community.
Read his story to see how his thread has woven into the tapestry of the Tepe Park Neighborhood.

Tamika’s story is one of strength, faith, and transformation—a journey from instability to purpose.
Growing up on Evansville’s South Side, she moved constantly with her grandmother, never knowing how long they’d stay. “I don’t like change at all,” she said, recalling the exhaustion of always starting over.
Now a mother, grandmother, business owner, and community leader in Tepe Park, Tamika has turned struggle into strength. Her story proves that even through chaos, faith and determination can build something lasting roots, confidence, and a new beginning.
